That's the optimal settings this guy got with his rig:
P4 2.6 @ 3.12GHz
Asus P4P865 mobo
1 gig PC3200 DDr 400 Ram
80 gig hd @ 7200 RPM
Ati Radeon 9800 Pro O/C to 412/365
Audigy 2 Z 7.1 surround
He didn't post any benchmarks but... eh... I doubt this thing is going to look decently on a rig with components that are more than a year old ;)

640x480 my ass. How could they make a game that less than 5% of gamers can run at a respecatble resolution. Nice topic title though.

Well a couple days ago one of the id programmers talked about Doom 3 performance and he listed the amount of video ram needed for each video setting, where were:
512 video memory = Ultra Setting
256 = High Setting
128 = Medium Setting
64 = Low Setting
But it doesn't really explain why you need to play it as such a low resolution, even if the card has 128 memory, it should beable to handle a higher res.

Well if you have a stong enough will, you could download it, see how it runs, if it runs good buy it, if not get rid of it and wait for xbox.
