Besides the slow pace(not really a problem except once I catch up with the current release it's gonna be hard to only read one a week :() it's one of my favorites.
Especially the part I'm at now(Shinjuku street massacre) and the 3rd mission.

The Hunt Tae Kojima part was the best in the series so far, the current one is pretty awesome too. Seems we're finally getting into the reason for Gantz and such.

Though I haven't seen the anime but I wouldn't say that was the case with the Manga(well maybe for the first mission but that was to introduce how brutal what Gantz is putting them against is)

those are the type of shows I like to avoid as well, good example is Elfen Lied, the gore just got ridiculous

I agree about the sex, when you only get one 15 page chapter a week it's quite a disappointment when it's wasted on useless fanservice.
Violence-wise it's just as gory as Elfen Lied but Elfen Lied is more brutal.

It's not really that gory. just shows the inside of their head but that's only when they get transported to/from the gantz apartment.

plus they fight aliens so it's not like elfen lied where they're decapitating humans

they do cut down on the fanservice as the series goes on since the main character(kurono) becomes more mature and not some horny uncaring guy.

Im a little lighter on sex, since the Japanese are a bunch of horny cats, but using it as a gimmick (like Elfen Lied), just is uncalled for.

Ii'm not really gonna watch Gantz anyway.

I probably never will watch both that and Elfien...just....dont think I can handle it.

EDIT: I actually been thinking bout Elfien Lied for while if I actually want to watch it...but exremely cute charachters going thru so much goryness just....ugh I don think my mind could take it. Sorry I'm not used to such cute charachters with so much goryness. If the story and characters had a daker tone (espically looks) then maybe I may handle but the way Elfien is designed, I'm just not used to it.

the story in elfen lied is pretty fucking dark, the mutants(nana, lucy, others) get litteraly driven insane by the way there being treated. there brothers and sisters are getting killed as soon as there born, and everyones treating them like lab rats.

that and for the most part, most of them are less "fluffy kitten" cute and more "id hit it" cute.

but yea, you would probably lose it :P

I quit after the 10 minute gore scene. I hated how they made you feel bad about her killing that girl by telling about what she wanted to do with her life then killde her off

She's a mutant, probably made for combat (anime network only showed ep.1, so I wasn't competely sure about the story). I'm guessing there was some sort of bulletproof skin mutation.

I saw a privew that a sniper bullet did get her but only on her helment, but did wack her good so from my prespective, as long she knows somebody is going to fill leid metal into her, she'll have no problem, now if there was a really good a sniper about maybe 40 km away and she doesnt see him/her and she defintly has his/her sight at her cranum, then yeah, pops goes the weisel.

Eh It's fine,It's just that I find it funny that the mentioning of Elfen Lied or Gantz always leads to the other. Not just through the violence contraversy either.

Also a lot of people seem to compare Elfen Lied to Gunslinger Girl as well. Probably because of the "suffering girls" in both series or something that relates to it.

No, Gunslinger Girl isn't gory at all. I think it's 13+.
I don't really see how the two can compare here either, but Shuin's right they often are.

You should, only 3 DVDs and a really good plot and characters. Definately my favorite release so far this year.

As for Gantz, didn't care for 209 and 210. Fight scenes really bore me when they're like this. The large-scale battles are much more exciting than the singluar ones.

Well the title sounds like a generic "Girls with Guns" anime but it's really not.
Bunch of young girls get taken in by the Italian government. Genetically altered and trained and then used as assassins.
