Taylor helps MLS sew up All-Star win (http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20050730&content_id=38393&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp)
COLUMBUS -- The MLS All-Stars got three second-half goals, including a pair from substitute Jeff Cunningham, to race past Fulham FC of the English Premier League for a 4-1 victory in the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on Saturday afternoon at Columbus Crew Stadium.
MLS All-Star Game Honda MVP Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution) gave the MLS team the lead midway through the first half, but a penalty converted by Fulham's Claus Jensen sent the teams into the break level. Ronnie O'Brien (FC Dallas) deflected a Clint Dempsey (New England Revolution) shot to put the MLS side ahead for good just before the hour. Cunningham (Colorado Rapids) scored two goals in the final five minutes to provide the final scoreline.
Sure Fulham only finished 13th last season but that's an impressive win. The Columbus Crew alone also beat them 2-1, and D.C. United actually had a 1-0 lead over Chelsea earlier this week before falling 2-1.
Looks like our domestic teams are finally starting to measure up to those abroad.
