I'm going into the gaming business and I want to have some programming knowledge packed into me before I actually get in there, so I was wondering what are some popular programming languages popular with video games. It would help alot if you could answer this for me. Thanks.

Most console and PC games are written in C++, most web games are written in Flash. There are several good books that will teach you C++ and game theory that you can pick up at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders or whatever your favorite bookstore is. Look for Andre LaMothe's name either as the author or the editor, and you'll have a good reference.

It'd probably help looking at some of the free game dev kits out there, too.

I'm learning C++ right now from a book, but I'll probably take a class soon.

C++ and basic are the main two you want to know. If you actually want to be a programmer, that's a different story.

Qbasic is a good program to start with.

I'm learning VBasic. Sucks, I'd skip it.
