2009 World Series Thread (Yankees v.s Phillies)
The matchup is now set... Who will win? Who do you want to win?
I've had a chance to watch a lot of games from both teams and im happy about this matchup... The defending champs vs NY Yankees...
It will be a tight series and i'm not sure who will win... But i think that it will come down to who the better hitting team is...

When was the last time the Yankee really "bought" a championship? Maybe '77 when they went all out and got Reggie Jackson... But during the 96-00 years they won on mostly homegrown talent and guys they traded for...

Everyone always talks about the hostility of Philadelphia fans (truth) but I haven't not heard/read of so much crying and pointless bashing that has come out of New York in such a short time. Even more unbelievable is that the bashing hasn't even been about the team playing in the World Series. They want to attack foods? Monuments? Seriously? I mean, I know journalism has been in the can for some time now, but come on... And we are supposed to be "Frillies"... 
I'm sticking with the Rollins prediction. It will be Phillies in 5.

I haven't heard a lot of that and if i do its in a facetious way (like radio ads calling it the Big Apples vs CheeseSteaks series)...
Then again nothing surprises me... When your in the heat of competition BOTH sides say the most idiotic things...

Very idiotic things. They photoshopped Victorino into a dress and put him on the front page of the NY Post, they actually said Philadelphia has no history and started reaaally stretching and reaching when they started insulting food. It's just really pathetic that, in a situation like this, instead of talking about the teams for the most part, they rather talk about nonsensical things as if New York's shit don't stink or something.

Don't take what the papers say to heart especially if its the NY Post... Its a rag and most NYers know that... Print media can get away with that trash... For the most part the NY sports radio shows and TV news aren't pulling any of that...

Btw on tonights game 5... I'm seeing it as a desperate game for both teams... Obviously for the Phillies but for the Yankees they need to seal it up tonight...They are bringing out a weak hitting lineup against an automatic out machine (Lee) and if they lose tonight they will have to bring out Pettitte on 3 days rest which he hasn't done in 4+ years... Also i can see the Phillies feeding off the momentum of a win tonight...
I'm a Yankee fan but i know that its not over till its over...
