Well I did grow up in the Atari age.

That said my parents would never buy us any video game system. "You know, those things will rot your brain." Especially after I dropped $5.00 in a Defenders machine while my parents did grocery shopping one day.

The closest they came was buying a Commodore VIC 20, and that was because I could "use it for school."

All I did was program in games in BASIC.

Later in the Army I bought a Commodore 64.

It wasn't until around the time of the rise of Genesis that I got back into consoles.

The NES game I picked was Super Mario 3. I figured it would be like Super Mario Land. A game I played the hell out of during Desert Shield/Storm.

I'm sure by now you have realized that Mario 3 is nothing like Super Mario Land. Both great games though.
