Javon Walker wants Randy Moss money
Quote:
Packers | Walker: Hefty Demands - from www.KFFL.com
Sun, 15 May 2005 16:09:09 -0700
Jason Wilde, of the Wisconsin State Journal, reports Green Bay Packers WR Javon Walker apparently is demanding a very high-priced contract from the Packers. Walker has two years remaining on his $7.485 million rookie contract, which paid him $4.3 million in guaranteed money and calls for him to receive base salaries of $515,000 this year and $650,000 next year. An NFL source said agent Drew Rosenhaus' contract proposal to the Packers in February asked for a deal that would make Walker one of the league's highest-paid receivers. In fact, Walker apparently wanted more than the eight-year, $75 million deal ($18 million signing bonus) that Minnesota gave WR Randy Moss in 2001 "I consider myself one of the best," Walker said. "I'm comfortable with my talent." As noted earlier, the Packers have not responded to Rosenhaus' proposal nor are they in current negotiations with him.

Give me a break. Without Favre throwing to him in desperation practically every critical down he wouldn't have any stats to speak of.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. He's not a great route runner and doesn't create much separation and most of his plays are made when plays break down.

Anybody can say, 'OK, he had a great year (in 2004), so let's see if he can do it again.' That's like trying to tell a person to go to war in Iraq, but let me see if you can go to war again and come back, and then we'll give you the Medal of Honor. You don't send a soldier out to a battlefield twice for him to (prove he is) consistent

He definitely deserves more than he's making now, but not what Randy Moss got. He's not in the same league as Moss. Luckily for us, we have depth at the receiver position, so if he doesn't show up, we aren't going to have a glaring weakness on offense.
He's talented, though, and I hope we have him on the field this season.
